Versions prior to PHP 4.3.10 will be dropped from the server platform.

Further PHP Deprecations

PHP 4.3 and PHP 5.0 are now deprecated since they have vulnerabilities which are addressed in PHP 4.4 and PHP 5.1 respectively. PHP 4.3 and PHP 5.0 will be removed in a future Platform Update, so you need to migrate your PHP usage to later versions. Please target your migration on PHP 5.1 where ever possible since upstream support/maintenance for PHP 4.x is not great and is not likely to improve.

Other Changes

/usr/bin/php is no longer a symlink to a specific version of PHP. Instead it is now a wrapper which invokes a controllable version of PHP. The version is determined in the following manner.

If the environment variable PHP_VERSION is set (either directly or by editting the 'php_version' setting in /usr/local/etc/rc.conf) that value is used.

If PHP_VERSION is not set, php.ini is analysed for an active 'extension_dir' statement and if a version can be determined then it is used.

If no version has been found yet, the hard-coded default version will be used. Currently this is set to '5.1'.

The .me.uk SLD is intended for personal use. Domain Name registrations made under .me.uk are expected to be made for natural persons, such as Mr John Doe registering johndoe.me.uk.

The new nameservers are NS1.DEEPSENSE.NET and NS2.DEEPSENSE.NET.

The new nameservers allow us to more quickly introduce freshly created domains to our hosting servers. The new servers also give us the ability to provide our customers with additional canonical domain names to their current domains e.g. shop.deepsense.com, support.deepsense.com.

As we are already members of Nominet the UK domain name authority, we can now register and have running domains in the ".uk" namespace in a very short period of time.
